Maya wasn't all sunshine and rainbows, but it was mostly.

I can't believe that we finally wrapped on Maya. Maya was one of the smoothest shoots ever. I really loved the crew. Camera was fast. Sound was always ready. Art took a little too long but Gabbie, Sophie and Jackie did a really job dressing the apartment. Most importantly, we worked really well as a crew. We'd done so many test shoots that we all knew each other very well. In particular, I had a very jokey working relationship with James, Otis, Henry, Mitch, Hazel and Pascal. This was great as it allowed us to stay calm and comfortable around each other whilst working. However, the main reason I think the shoot was such a success was down to the producer Leo. Leo was a boss in the pre-production stage, always happy to help me, but on set she would keep the set clean and keep everyone happy. Leo had my back at all times and I knew it. Hazel even told me that it felt like Leo and I were her set parents. Last but not least, Tiara really blew me away. I have an interest in directing and would love to scratch that itch one day. I learned so much from the way Tiara worked with the actors. She is very talented.

However, it wasn't always sunshine and rainbows, literally. On the last shoot day (the field shoot day) we had a horrible downpour of rain. Not wanting the crew and cast to turn into ice lollies we cancelled the field shoot and instead discussed changing the scene into the couple walking down the street instead of walking down a field. This was good and bad because now we had to come up with a way of filming it un-risk assessed. We came up with the idea of the couple walking down the street whilst being filmed by the camera in a moving car. I wasn't happy about it, but I had a feeling the crew were going to do it without me anyway, and we needed to make up for the lost scene. I had to compromise a health and safety talk and place everyone on a corner of the road with a walkie-talkie and high vis jacket, so if a car came down the quiet road, the camera car could just do a loop and come back. This worked, and the shot looked great.

I really loved working with this crew, and hope I get to do it again ;).
